Officially it started in 1989 with then President George Bush. Normally the National Turkey Federation presents the President with 2 turkeys – which he then promptly pardons. They then go to live on a ranch somewhere where they are pampered and live a good long life for a turkey – about 5 years. The most recent Bush even sent a couple to Disneyland. It is a kind gracious act of forgiveness.

This Thanksgiving – I’m thankful that another turkey was pardoned – ME!! I wasn’t pardoned by the President, that is only temporary. I was pardoned by Jesus when I was 12 years old – and that was for all eternity!!

So, on this Thanksgiving - I want to publicly declare that I am thankful Jesus pardoned this Turkey!

A woman was gambling – playing an electronic bingo machine when suddenly she won $41.8 million dollars – imagine her excitement. [read about it here  http://bit.ly/7WKXEX ] Can you see her jumping around, screaming, calling all her family and friends, and nearly fainting?? I can! I can imagine how excited she had to be at her new found wealth.

There was just one problem – they took it all away! Come to find out, she had actually won about $2 – but the machine had malfunctioned and awarded her nearly $42 million.  It went all the way to the Alabama Supreme Court and they ruled she did NOT win the $42 million. Imagine, she thought she had found the “golden goose” only to discover she was empty handed.

Really, everything in the world is like that. Any “gold” you think you earn in this world will only turn up fools gold in the next. Heed the advice of Jesus and accumulate more in heaven than you do on earth. Lay up treasures in heaven. Treasures like good works, souls of men, tithes and offerings, and a holy lifestyle. You’ll be glad you did.

And, one thing for sure, no one – not even the government- can take it away from you!

Matthew 6:20

Why do Athiest feel the need to ‘evangelize’? It strikes me as humurous that they would spend thousands of dollars and countless hours fighting something they don’t believe exists!!

Shouldn’t we as Christians be much more motivated than the atheist? After all, we believe God is real and that there are dire consequences for NOT believeing and trusting in Him!!

So, lets do the world a favor and be more vocal and more zealous and more committed to telling people about Jesus than the atheist are in telling people He doesn’t exist.

Go to work ~ school ~ community ~ family and share the love of Christ and the gospel message!!
